Little power to front wheels

Hi all just joined to see if anyone has had similar issues as i am having. My 2002 4.6l when engageing 4wd it goes into 4hi and 4lo properly but the front wheels only just spin. The back spin as they ahould but i can stop the front with my hand. Just no power. Any ideas would be great as i live in australia and not many people know about theae 4wds. Thank you

Probably have a failed electromagnetic clutch in the transfer case.

Or a failed electrical connection leading to the clutch. This would be far easier to check than ripping apart the T-case, IMO. Check for voltage at the brown lead going into the case, between it and ground, when switched into 4X4 HIGH. Should be 12 volts.

Even before that, check the fuse which feeds power to the clutch! imp
