  • Hello. Yes.. I have offroaded my truck pretty hard. My dana 30 was stock for a long time and then I put a powertrax locker in it, but still stock equipment. I used that for a long time without any breakdowns.
    Just this year, at 'TDS 09 I finally broke a front pass side axle shaft. 50 dollars had me good to go again.
    I actually broke the ring and pinion as well at tds, but I switched in 4.88's before going and 3 of the teeth were already chipped, so thats most likely why that happened...(its kind of a long story why)....
    If your gonna stay with 4.10's I you can make it last, but it is all in the driving. You can break it, but you Can break a dana 60 also... Like I said, its all in the driving. The R&P are stronger with higher gearing because the ring and pinion have less number of teeth and therefore the teeth are thicker. 4.10's should work good for you.
