Without being able to hear for myself where the noises are coming from I can't help you. If you can't tell where they are coming from, I suggest bringing the Explorer to a reputable shop for a diagnosis. Could be brakes, wheel bearings, transfercase, etc.. Lot's of possibilities until I know where the sounds are coming from.

Hi Rick, just like to say thanks for allowing posting of photos to all members. I've noticed a lot of photos in older threads are not available due to third party hosting eg photo bucket. I'm sure your action will solve this. Good move.

I have an option of rebuilding one of two engines. A 3.8L police or a 4L. Both engines still run and are approaching 300,000 KM. Which would be the best candidate?

Yes it is. Nearly all of it is open for non-paying members. Our paying members get some perks such as the ability to post photos directly to the forum. Otherwise you have to store your photos elsewhere and link to them.

What winter! We have had no snow in southeast Missouri this winter. We don't usually get much anyway, but it's unusual to not have ANY.
