2003 Explorer Sport (2 dr) Low Speed Rotational Creaking

I have a rotational creaking sound that seems to be coming from the driver's front area. It just started happening two days ago. This is on a flat street, no bumps. The truck is not moving up and down at all, the sound seems to go in time with the rotation of the tires.

Any ideas? Wheel bearings were done 2 years ago. I've put about 18k on the vehicle since replacing them.

U joints checked? 4WD or RWD? If 4WD, also check the CV's.

It's 4WD. My mechanic said it sounded like U joints, should know in a day or two. (He's really backed up, but gives me a heck of a deal)

I'll have him check the CVs too. Thanks!
