My Sport Trac runs good, no chain noise, trans shifts good.

I had this motor installed and it has about 130k on it and the trans was replaced sometime before I got this truck.

Anyway I have found a good running 5.0 Explorer for a good price.

I want to know what you think I would be likely to get if I put my motor and trans up for sale?

I am crunching numbers to see if it makes sense to buy the Explorer.

I love my Trac and it would be perfect with 5.0 running gear in it.

There's no such thing as a good SOHC 4.0L engine and the transmissions are not very reliable either.

If you could find someone that wants your engine and trans they'd be nuts to buy it without driving it and hearing it run. Even so, I can't see someone paying more than $800 for the pair. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my opinion.

Salvage up here asks btw 1200 and 2k for the engine depending on mileage. Transmission goes for another k. That's government insurance.

A grand for a used trans? IDK where you live, but no one where I live would pay that for a private party sale.
