If it was between your rear wheels it's probably your rear diff. If that's coming from your tranny, you've got some big problems! :) Rear diff fluid is 75w140 so it's pretty thick and if it hasn't been changed in a long time it will look really dark and sludgy, at least that's what mine looked...

Same (or similar) problem with mine. I posted a thread a couple weeks ago that didn't really get anywhere. I've checked my recirc door and it's intact and working as it should so I've ruled that out. My next thing to check is all the vacuum lines. Not sure how to do that yet though...
