Does anybody know how to tell if a second generation is the ohv motor just from the VIN number im in the market for a second generation explorer and many people who have them advertised for sale dont know which motor they have ? any help would be greatly apreciated

Hello all this morning i heard a thud come from within my dash and then the fan immediately became very loud making this humming sound constantly. as the morning progressed I heard the ac compressor constantly clicking so I decided to pull over and pop the hood and still continued to here this...

I used motorcraft tensioner and belt no problems here

lights came back i installed a used gem and it fixed my problem for a week then it came back. any ideas ?

turned out it was the gem in my explorer

OK the blinking lights came back that didnt take long any ideas ? I have been searching on here and a lot of people are finding that this could be the transfer case shift motor

I just had the 4wd lights blinking when i started up my 98 explorer sport this morning they blinked at startup then every couple of minutes they would blink 6 times. I tried to put it in 4wd and it wouldnt engage. I came inside and read this thread then went out and disconected the battery...
