Fuel pressure, regulator not holding pressure

SOHC 97. Fuel pressure regulator is losing vacuum from 10hg to 2.5hg in 7 minutes. Is that normal ? What are specs for fuel pressure? My one runs with 33psi only when idle.

    Fuel pressure regulator vacuum check

Truck runs lean. I am checking everything and put a vacuum pump on the fuel pressure regulator to check if it holds vacuum. It goes from 15 hg to 9,5 hg in 60 seconds! Is that normal? There is no fuel in the vacuum hose...

    New Guy w/ Old Explorer

Hello there ! I have read some threads in here from time to time for tips on simple repairs & sensor replacements. I currently have the pleasure of replacing my FPR - fuel pressure regulator on my '99 Explorer V8 5.0 Yes, I know this part has been disco'd by Ford, but what's the...

    98 limited 5.0 No/bad start

Read a bunch of threads, and think I have this problem licked. The car has 230K on it and every once in a while it wouldn't start hot. I live in Vegas, so I attributed it to vapor lock. It always started back up in a half hour or so. When running, it was perfect. The other day it got cold...

    Sneaky fuel pressure regulator.

Hello Ford Geeks, I'm new to this forum, so I'm introducing myself, as requested by the forum. I'm not a sporty, off-road motorist, nor Henry Ford throwback by any means-I prefer bicycling to driving on most commutes, and I wanted to find a Toyota Previa-AWD, before settling for the...

    Q: FPR & Vacuum

Is the FPR suppose to have a single vacuum line coming off of it that splits into two before the tree and thus has two lines connected to the tree? Seems like that would double the vacuum pressure or is the FPR suppose to run off that? Thank you for your time!

Acts like I'm running out of gas after engine warms up

94 explorer with stock 4.0 liter runs great when cold, after it warms up a bit it acts like it's out of gas when I push the accelerator down. Would the fuel pressure regulator be a likely suspect? I've replaced the fuel pump relay, the fuel pump, filter etc... this vehicle sat for 5 years...

    Fuel Pressure Regulator...?

Hey everyone, My engine will not start and I need help. It is a 2001 XLT, 4.0 V6 SOHC, A/T, 2WD The engine will not start apparently due to excess gas [massive “flooding”] So far I have found the following: It cranks strong, so battery, starter & ignition all work well. It has...

    Fuel Pressure Regulator operating correctly?

I'm hoping to get some input regarding the function of the vacuum line on the back of the FPR. I am having a problem with performance in that my truck will intermitantly bog down (happens more often when it is hot) and it will also backfire "cough" when I mash the accelerator at a stop...

    dream truck turned disaster

little history, I buy a car with around 100000 miles for cash and run it till it dies. my caravan that had 220000 + miles just went on me, so not cost effective to repair. After 7 years of the same car I bought my dream truck, a 2001 Ford sport trac. looks awsome...or so I thought, the guy I...

Troubleshooting / Chugging, stalling, Fuel pump?

Hey all, I was out wheeling at night and all was good. Once we got back on the pavement I tried pushing on the gas to accelerate up to speed (55mph) and it wouldn't do it. I pushed harder on the gas, and the engine's RPMs didn't respond at all. Didn't notice ANY problems on the "trails", but as...
