02 Explorer 4x4 low wont engaged?

It's snowing today i was gonna give the 4x4 low a try but whenever i press the button driving or at a stop the button just flashes for a few seconds the turns off it wont engage???? so i've been just using 4x4 high in 3 gear works fine but im wondering why the 4x4 low isn't working......

you have to press the brake pedal,then put it in neutral , then press the 4x4 low....

An I don't think you should be "DRIVING" in 4X4 low not to good of an idea.

that's right , it's only for rough terrain, up hills and stuff....

All true... the 'flashing' indicates the system is waiting further imput from the driver, per the manual. That further input of course is being in N and your foot on the brake.
