- 1996 Ford Explorer XLT
Hi, my username is Mainman407. My vehicle is a 96 Explorer XLT (2/4WD) with a 4.0 LT engine. For a minute I thought that I had a broken driver did motor support. When starting my engine, the driver's side feels as if it raises up, but I cannot see any physical damage to the support.
I also thought the Upstream Oxygen Sensors were bad (haven't changed out these yet). But what I noticed most is that when I shift into Reverse the engine begins to shake as if something is loose. It's not the drive shaft because I inspected the "U"-joints connections closely. I also thought about the Servo solenoids.
But as I said, while in drive the engine runs smooth, the gears shift as they should and the vehicle drives as normal as expected.
According to Mitchell 1's Auto info, many have told me the Servo solenoids can cause this problem. But my issue is only when I place the vehicle in Reverse.
Have any other Explorer XLT owners experienced similar issues?
