My front drive won't engage. The lights change, the motor works, it will go in and out of low range, but the front driveshaft & axles don't move and spin freely by hand. Suspect transfer case issue. Are these repairable?

How long have you had that truck?

OK, well first thing I would do ( I am no expert) is probe the brown wire at the transfer case, IIRC you should have a little less than 6V DC in 4x4 HIGH. If not look for an electrical problem upstream. If you do have voltage look inside the case. Maybe a busted wave spring or something.

The front axle connects by means of an electromagnetic clutch which is energised by the brown wire mentioned above.
Check for voltage in the brown wire and for operation of the clutch when energised.

The clutch might also be worn.

The transfer case shift motor only operates high/low range.

Thanks all. The wire is a good place to work from. This was sudden, worked one day, not the next.
