I am new to the forum and need some advise. I am not a mechanic, but will try to tackle most anything. I have a 2004 Explorer Sport Trac. For years, the fuel gauge hasn't worked properly. At fill-up, the needle will bottom out and the indicator will show "low fuel". As the tank empties some, the gauge usually will go up, but never registers correctly. Recently it has caused the "check engine" light to come on. Is this a bad fuel pump/fuel gauge in the tank? If so, is it something I should try to tackle? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thanks for that reply. Is that something that I can tackle pr is it very involved? I assume that it is at the fuel tank, so is removing the bed the trick? Financially, I need to handle myself if it is possible. What do you think?
