2004 ford ranger
I have a 2004 Ford ranger with the 4.0 sohc motor motor locked up on me so I pulled it to put new motor in had to pull torque converter with old motor now I'm trying to put torque converter back in the tranny the shaft inside the tranny has 2 sets of splines on it I can get converter on it and hear it click twice but the shaft on converter that goes to fly wheel is still 1/2out of the bell housing why wont the converter go back anymore i have worked on it for a week with no luck any help would be great

Did you pull out the inside shaft? If you did you will need to reseat it first inside the transmission and then try to put the torque converter back in.
FYI, the inside shaft is your input shaft, the outside is your pump shaft.

When I took my shaft and converter out the shaft had longer splines on one end and can be put in the wrong way.
