Broken link,

Just a quick not to whomever,, This link below is no longer valid. I got a 404 error. Page cannot be found,, yadda, yadda.

this site contains most of the 90's era service manual cd (from ford).

check em out, they are the real ford product, not a knockoff like chiltons or haynes..

http://www24.brinkster.com/sdhartney/linc/linc.htm

yes, I know the site is geared towards lincolns, I found it when I had my 91 continental. They do have the trucks in some of the early ones as well as cars, others have the trucks seperate.

Yes its a 4.0,, remove exhaust manifolds,, Spray well with wd40 or PBBlaster a few days before starting to loosen them up, remove intakes,, actually a haynes manual from autozone or oreillys will tell you what you need.

Here are forum-friendly resolution scans. You can see higher resolution by going to the Explorer Photo Gallery, searching on the name (i.e. 62_1) and then clicking on 'View Larger Image' under the image. These are taken from 1994 Ford Explorer Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, a copy of which is always available on eBay for $10-15, and includes schematics, connectors, and locations for everything, including locations within the vehicle. I urge anyone owning an Explorer to grab one.

Roadrunner, what kind of scanner do you have? It would be a lot easier for you and other members if you could scan all of these pages into a PDF that could be printed out as a book. Adding searchable text would be pretty cool too. Most HP all-in-one machines have this feature.

I actually do have an HP all-in-one.

I'm doing these because I am helping a guy in a time sensitive PCM issue and he needs them before he can buy the book, which is always available on ebay for less than $15. I'm not doing any more scanning than needed for that particular thread. In fact, I'm a little concerned about copyright on this and I may well take this post back down after the guy fixes his issue.

These images are not meant to replace the book, in fact, they are a poor replacement because you have to go back and forth in the book to really get the bigger picture. Buying the book is very much the way to go.

That said, I am creating new schematics, my own work, that condenses the page flipping into a comprehensive picture of the system, such as this:

Fuel_power1.jpg

I would do a similar ones for the charging system, gauges, ignition, etc...

I'm doing these in my spare time, which is slim this time of year where I live. There are not a lot of nice summer months in Northern Minnesota, and outdoor stuff comes first. I am also building a robotic arm and working on my amateur radio stuff, so I don't know how far or soon I will get with this. But there is definitely a need.

That said, I repeat... buy the book. It is part of a 3 volume set that covers everything down to part numbers for every version of this vehicle, down to the part number in many cases. I have seen the set on ebay for less than $40. It is well worth it, just in parts you won't buy guessing at the problem.

Cool stuff Roadrunner. I can understand where you're coming from on that front. If you do ever want to scan something front to back into a searchable PDF, it's a somewhat hidden feature but very easy in the HP Solution Center.

I got one several months ago and used it to help me re-wire a bunch of stuff. Really helped to pull out all the ABS stuff when I did the SAS.

My schematic drawing program is... ready? Microsoft Paint. The symbols are from an ARRL reference document.

The robotic arm is based on Lynxmotion hardware, r/c servos and an arduino processor. Not exactly a kit, but not scratch either. My main interest is in control and user interface, so I didn't exactly go all homebrew on the hardware... not much learning in bending brackets.
