If you are able, order a diff cover from Solid. They are the best deal on the market today for a nodular iron cover. Suggest you get it from this guy, he has great customer service and can get you nearly anything off-road related. Disclaimer; I don't know if he ships to Norway...

If you do contact from him, tell him you got his information from Brian Kennedy in San Diego. I send him all the business I can, he is that good with customer service, and he price matches. He recently beat a manufacture's price for my neighbor from Fox and Full Traction by several hundred dollars by price matching and offering free shipping. He ate stuff to keep my business, and offered to eat something that wasn't even his fault (manufacturer defect on FOA shock reservoirs). There is a discount code from another forum, pirate10, that should give you 10% off if its still in effect. Best bet would be to email him, telling him what you want, where you live, etc., and ask what kind of price you can get.

This is how most people make their off road vehicle stronger; break stuff and replace it with that is harder to break. You are well on your way..

Thanx.. just sent an e mail :)

Damn, if I knew that cover was around I would have bought one when I popped my factory cover off. It's not broken but it took me over an hour to remove, I didn't want to break it. Much rather have a thick steel cover for heat dissipation.

I have one in my front axle. Have scraped it a few times, not hard as I am careful with diff's. It's held up well so far.

"New" cover in the mail. .

"New" cover in the mail. .
Bough oil and limited slip additive today

What kind of oil did you get? You may find that you don't need the additive. I used Mobil 1 75W90 Synthetic which already has LS additive in it. With a few hundred miles on it, I haven't heard any chattering or any noise difference compared to cheap dino 80w90 with a whole bottle of Ford LS additive.

With the reading I did before changing my fluid out, the consensus seems to be that you should add it if you're having problems or if you use regular gear oil. The additive is a friction modifier to allow slippage. In my mind, I'd rather guarantee lockup of the clutches when I really need it.

I bought regular transmition oil .. i did not find oil with LS additive in it this time..

Hopefully that's a language barrier thing, you don't put transmission oil in a differential. They take gear oil only, GL-5 rating.

Also, the Motorcraft LS additive (XL-3) is a 4-ounce bottle. Yours being a 6-ounce, I'd use half, maybe a pinch more and see how it drives. If it chatters, put a bit more in, if not, call it good.

When I was running store-brand 80W90 regular gear oil, I used the full 4-ounce bottle and never had any chatter or engaging issues.

It's back on the trails

You figure out why you lost reverse? I imagine its difficult to find a replacement transmission for a 1992 Ford Explorer in Norway.

I have no ide why i don't have reversere. .
Guess i end ut order from USA. .. If i can't find a donor truck here

:thumbsup::D

Based upon that video, your next upgrade should be a locking differential.....and a new spotter.:D
