Why is the OHV less efficient that the SOHC???
All this time I thought I had the engine with the better gas mileage. I was under the impression that the SOHC was more powerful, therefore more fuel.
The SOHC with over head camshafts is a more efficient valvetrain design. Any OHC engine will do better than an OHV engine, given the same size, use and compression.
Basically because of more valvetrain mass in th OHV.

You did an awesome job on your 99! The Metallic Chestnut color is one of my favorite colors, but it's crying out for one thing, a Billet grill! My friend has a 99 2dr. X and it just looks like another X coming down the road (stock grill). It would complete a smooth transition of what you already did.

Al, your truck rocks, I admire all the work you put into it. I just had a few questions about your exhaust setup. First, is the 70 series muffler noticeably louder than stock, and does it make it sound ricey or anything? Second, did you retain the stock resonators with your stock pipes? I was considering the setup you had, so I just wanted to get the details straight. Also, was the muffler a straightforward fit for the truck, or was much fabrication needed? Let me know how it all works for you, thanks.
Not much louder than stock at idle and no resonating in the truck at highway speed. You can tell its not stock when you get on it.
The resonator was removed and the pipe is all custom bent 2 1/2".
The entire exhaust from the cats back is custom with 2 1/2" piping.
just wondering which A-pillar gauge pod you used, and where i can get one, ive kind of skipped ahead so hope i didnt miss it in the previous posts...what did your truck dyno at?
Hey, Al I was wondering where did you get those Altezza Taillights? I see that you don't have them on anymore. And Will the 99-01 Model taillights fit on the 95-97 models? I see they are the same size and width.
I got them at a garage sale.

the hatch was re designed in 98, the top inner corner of the tail light is more rounded 98-01
