Not windy and the crowds aren't too bad

Arrived and drooling over the trucks in the parking lot...:D

Sean and I are here now too.

Taking a break in the shade over by the dirt track if anyone wants to meet up. I'm at a. Table under the big canopy.

Parking. ..

Sorry we missed you guys. ..:(

...Brian and I met up after Dave left around 2 and we are still here...

I tried calling Dave just before 1:30, but I think I have a old number. I didn't have your number in my phone Ted...thought I did. ..but didn't. So me April went and got some Farmer Boys

Yeah must be my old number, I never got a call. I'll pm it to you later...not that it matters now:p:

...I'm still here..:D

...Heading back for more...:biggthump

...Vendors are saying this is the biggest inabout 6 years..

... I've got a bunch of pictures but need to save some for today's contest...:D

Would love if you could pick me up some swag when you're there Ted. I wasn't able to make it out with money being tighter then anticipated due to my training with the Corps being postponed to an undetermined date with the shutdown and all. Figured it was better to save up and make it to Truckhaven instead.

Im bummed I missed seeing some of you guys. Im sitting on the plane headded home. And yes Ted I did get my in-n-out before I left (from the same one that only had drinks last time)

Yeah sorry I could'nt hang around longer for lunch. Speaking of in n out they are putting one in at cabazon by the big gas station next to the casino.

..Your In-N-Out date came back and we checked out a couple booths after you were in the air..:p:

...Sadly, there wasn't much of anything as in bling being given away..:(

..I have a bunch of pictures that will reflect the Government being closed and it's impact to the offroad community and you may also see some Military offroad endeavors in the pictures too..One being the Broad Sword Race team (which actually caught a picture of me filming them at KOH this year, while they were racing)..They built a new rig to race..Marine Corps..:salute:..:biggthump

..I didn't want to tell Brian about that one...I was going to surprise him with it when he comes out to Truckhaven, I want to drive him thru there as it's on the way..But maybe it will help him decide to come to Truckhaven sooner..;)

Breaking News..

..I have at least 3 behind the scenes, teasers, of big news going on in the Offroad Industry...Actually, I learned about 5 different HUGE News items but I can only give briefs of what I have learned as most of these items are so big and won't be finished until, and will have full disclosure at SEMA...(Anyone have a spare ticket to SEMA?)

...I have a ton of pictures I have to go thru but I am sure I've got something for everybody to enjoy..:D

I took very few pics this year...mostly of buggies I liked and some trophy trucks and such. I bypassed anything Jeep related or that had a Jeep parked in the booth...that cut my wandering time down significantly:p:

Swag was pretty low unless you wanted candy or a poster. I got a t-shiet from Synergy, and Poly, but by 1pmSaturday , Poly was already out of XL:eek: Didn't take any pics.:(

I was looking for a quick release mount for my fire extinguisher, but the cheapest one I could find was from Roak supply and they wanted $50. I'm not spending more for a mount then the fire extinguisher itself. So I'll be building one my self it looks like. Maybe Matt can cut us out some parts on that fancy cutter of his:D

..Ready for some news tidbits from the show?

..All this information will blossom on it's own in the future (Most of it at SEMA), but for now consider it for what it is...These are things I saw and heard at the show and this is my perception, and since they are in developmental stages they may change at any time..;)

..BFG is working on changing the MT and AT tires...

..It's time to check out "Dirt Everyday" on Youtube with Fred William's hosting...They just did a bunch of testing out here at several familiar and favorite wheeling spots..:biggthump

Northern Nevada Off Road Event
in 2014
October 1st, 2013

Jeff Knoll shocked the off road industry in March, 2011 when he announced he would be stepping away from the King of the Hammers (KOH), Ultra4 racing, and Hammerking Productions, Inc. Now the largest off road race in the United States KOH changed the landscape of Rocksports during the Great Recession, attracting 30,000 fans and participants to the desert of Johnson Valley, California.

Now, almost three years after selling his interest in the series he helped create, Knoll is set to announce his next adventure at the Off Road Expo in Pomona, California on October 5th, 2013. At 1:45 pm, Knoll will debut his plans for a week long festival that includes a completely new form of 4-wheel drive competition. The announcement will take place at the Genright booth #4761. In partnership with Wild West Motorsports Park, and John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino, Knoll will share his vision to capitalize on the unique opportunities that Northern Nevada has to offer the Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Industry.

..So...You thought about building a rig and entering it in a Ultra4 race..

..Then you figured out you weren't made of money and even if you could build the vehicle, the cost of modifying it between races and the tires alone would kill ya..

..Well...Dave Cole has come up with another class to race = Spec Class
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/general-4x4-discussion/1426546-ultra4-spec-class.html

The Spec Class will race in the EMC series of races.

Dynomax Exhaust

..I got to spend a few minutes with Dave Cole this weekend to briefly discuss this very car they brought out to the Offroad Expo..The car itself was a roller and ultimately the finished product will be unveiled at SEMA ..

Full Disclosure will be revealed at the Dynomax Exhaust booth at SEMA...

...But think about this for a moment..

..You are looking at the availability of a fully equipped KOH, race ready vehicle, already at the race location ready to jump in and race...(Guesstimated cost of vehicle 75-80K)

...You could run one of these cars (numbers are approximate) for about $1500 a day..But wait..

..You could race in one of these vehicles for about $5000 dollars at any of the Ultra4 races and about $7500 for a King of the Hammers race...Again, these are not the final numbers..

..and be assured, there will be a liability and insurance clause and cost you will have to add to these figures..;)
