Can I use a 1991 Aerostar transmission?

Hi, I found a great deal, 5000km tranny for 300$ but it's from a 91 Aerostar. will it fit my 94 Explorer 4WD ?

I am 99% sure the Aerostar used the A4LD in 91 (I KNOW they did in 92). The 94 EX still used the A4LD, and I do not think there were any changes in the PCM control aspects. There WERE significant improvements to the A4LD in 93, but in general, Yes, I think the 91 Aerostar A4LD should fit in your 94 Ex.

I agree with what glacier said, but one concern I would have is how the transfer case would bolt to it, assuming you've got 4wd.

You will have to transfer the tailshaft from the 4wd one, but yes, they are the same transmission.
