How is it they can sell it to you in a state of disrepair but you can't after all you've done!!

I am missing something clearly. However, at $1000 is not worth starting with another one again.
 






Woah woah woah, change the tires before you do anything else. If all 4 tires don't match these things will engage the 4x4 causing all kinds of racket..
 






4x4's and AWD is the same. Tires need to be not only the same size P metric or whatever, same make and model as well. There are difference if any of these are changed Keep inflation in the tires as per oem spec's is also key (at least not different from others on the same axle).

Any garage or especially tire place should now and transmission shops should but maybe like you say not many around there. Its still part of the automotive profession.
