The two remotes for my venerable '06 GMC Envoy were linked to the two saved seat presets in the car. Use remote #1 to unlock the car and saved seat settings #1 were applied to the seat; use remote #2 to unlock the car and saved seat settings #2 were applied. Do the nifty 2016 Explorer Platinum remotes support this? Ideally, they'd also save your choices for other important preferences, too - instrument display preferences, lane assist settings (warning/aid), cruise control settings (normal/adaptive), etc. Is it covered somewhere in the manual that I haven't come across?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum.
From the Manual, starting on page 144.
Your vehicle can save the preset memory
positions for up to three remote controls
or intelligent access (IA) keys.
