Like I told : I´ll get my 2006 XLT in Jan.06, and I´ll swap the original Ford-Radio for a Sony NC9950 Radio-Navigation-Unit.

I´ve heard that since the 95-modell there are some probs with aftermarket-Radios in a Ford-Car because of terminating the CAN-Bus, and about some pros finding the VSS-signal for navigationsystems.

So, does anybody already swapped the radio on his 2006 Explorer and can tell me anything aout wiring prolems and how to get rid of the probs ?

Would appreciate every reply. thx alot !

why did you not get the Explorer with the factory Navigation system?

There are a few reasons: first is that the US-frequencies and tuning-steps of the radio unit are a little different to the german ones, so you can´t get every station tuned properly. Second reason is that the Sony unit is a lot cheaper. And last but not least, the aftermarket units are "single-height" ( we call it one-DIN-height ) so there is enough space left for my electronic logging device ( need it for tax authorities ecause of business use ).
