Fuel Consumption Tuning

I recently purchased my second Explorer, an '09 XLT 4.0 SOHC. What kind of fuel mileage can I expect, what variation might indicate a tuning issue? Is the ECM tunable for mileage as well as performance?

I run a Superchips programer on my 08 Explorer 4.0 and my 04 Ranger 3.0 I run the Ranger on performance tune and it gets real good mileage, but its still a 3.0 and while the Superchips helps, it does not perform wonders. On the Explorer (wifes car) I run the fuel mileage and it helped it some, about 2 MPG better when she drives, very little difference if I drive (big foot)
