Gt500, or S550 mustang gt base 4 pot brakes

never though about gold. If I'm not mistaken the 2000 cobra R may have had gold calipers.

EDIT: NVM theyre black with gold rotors.

Now your getting somewhere! Definitely curious to see how it all works out.

Nice, machining smoke. I love big brake calipers.

Following- I really need to put together a better performing brake package for my xlt. The 20's look good on it, but definitely killed my braking performance & I want to drag the camper a long way next summer.

Nice to see Chris is still kicking these out. I tripped on to this thread by accident and recognized his work right away. I am still very happy with the set he did for my V8 Ranger after 150,000 miles of driving. Not a single issue at all and a great honest guy to deal with. I also noticed that my truck was referenced above but the link quoted no longer supports photos. The build info and photos are still available at another site, just google "Life After the Terminator."

I know you are going to love those brakes!!

yes I used your truck for reference. I was the one whom contacted you about his info, thank you very much for the help in getting in touch with him, he remembers doing your brakes and is very happy that they have worked out so well for you. I'm shooting to have this done before my daughter is born in March and waiting for paypal to transfer funds over so I can pay Chris he has everything ready. the hurricane push this back. All's left it to get front rotors and pads. Also had to break down and replace the rears had a caliper hang up so that slowed this process.

you would benefit from what jbrown1238 had done with his Ranger. using calipers and rotor from a early Cobra. 97-04 I believe were the same

J_Train,

You will be very happy with his work. The wait will be worth it. He is one heck of a fabricator.

I imagine our trucks will probably pass on the road at some point in the future. I get up to Homossasa Florida five days a week and LaGrange Georgia maybe once a year or so.

What do you do when your in Homosassa? or just passing through? I could have sworn I have seen your truck when I'm passing through to My dads to drop off my son before work.

So whats the deal on a 4wd truck? Are the brackets for 11" or 12" rotor spindles? Please let me in on the secret, who do I contact?

His name is Chris Neighbors. he's been doing this for a long time on the side. His email is caneighbors@hotmail.com just let him Joshua from Florida gave you his email. Also if you use yahoo he may have trouble receiving the email.

I make one stop there in Homossasa/Sugarmill each day around 1:00pm. Right on US19 north of US98.

oh you just make a stop nothing for work.

Hopefully starting this soon now that I have the parts needed. hoping my factory hoses will work.

ok well couldn't find a decent deal on gt500 or S550 calipers but I did get a set of Boss 302 Caliper which are the same as gt500 just no glossy. they will get re-sprayed probably the same grey just gloss not a matte. On the fence if I'm going to spray the brembo back on or not. they are stripped and reassembled (I assembled them before deciding on painting them) for size reference that's the new Samsung Galaxy S8+ next to it

I love this! I have a 2014 Mustang GT and I purchased it with the bare-bones brakes. I couldn't really afford to do the full on Brembos, but like you, I found these calipers for much cheaper! They are actually not manufactured by Brembo, but I put the Brembo decals on them anyways and tell people they are Bremb-no brakes. LOL

I masked mine up with painter's tape and painted them in a high-heat two-part epoxy.

I purchased the decals from Amazon for around $6. These basically are knock-offs of the 4 piston Brembo calipers that came on the Mustang GT Track Pack, so why not?

A car-club buddy of mine had upgraded his car to take-off Track Pack Brembos, but went with cross drilled and slotted rotors. I got lucky and he gave me the stock take-off Track Pack 14" rotors for free!

While they are not made by Brembo's they are remanufactured Brembo's by whomever it is anymore use to be A1Cardone. They look great on the car. Been taking my time with mine having a 2 year old and a 3 moth old makes it difficult at times. plus I haven't had a real free weekend since I started this upgrade. I'm looking to have this done this month or next. Only worry I have is the style bearings in the modified stock rotor turned hub compared to the mustang type bearing.

I originally thought they're remanufactured with Brembo cores, but it turns out they're not. The castings are slightly different. Once I get a chance to get back to muy Office I'll post pictures of the difference.

Here is an actual Brembo:

And the Autozone/Advanced Auto/O'Rielly's "Brembo"

I've called out one of the casting differences in the above photos with arrows. They originally started out as re-manufactured, but the supply of Brembo take-offs is kind of thin out there plus Brembo took some offense to companies re-manufacturing their calipers and selling them as re-manufactured Brembos.. So A1 Cardone or whoever is making these now has started casting their own. If indeed it is a re-manufactured Brembo brake (kind of rare out there these days) then it'll have these markings on the back side:

Notice how the casting on the backside of the above re-manufactured caliper is just slightly different from the one below.
