I've got a 1993 Ford Explorer with around 175,000 miles, I was wondering how long can you drive before the engine pretty much dies? It has been mostly city driving, a responsible adult driving good for the 150,000 then the last 25,000 I have been pushing it pretty hard. Whats the typical amount of miles I can get before replacing anything?

Thanks.

Barring severe overheating (a head killer on the 4.0's) the engine will easily make 200K and maybe 300K with regularoil changes and proper care and use.

have mine for 219000+ still strong but pings

How much oil is it consuming? But yeah, with proper care, it'll to 200,000+ easy. A gentleman has one here with over 400,000

That's true. If the engine is cared for, you can estimate using several trannys for every engine. Whether auto or manual, they're all pretty weak. Some have lasted 200,000+ miles though but not many.
