I swear, it follwed me home. Kert's B2 project

Test fitting Axles. Still have to cut some stuff and remove the gas tank to get my desired wheel base.

Had to get an air dryer to deal with the moisture in my airlines. I teed it off before the oiler so i can get dry air for the plasma and sand blaster and use the oiled side for my air tools.

Got joints?

Look what finally showed up in the mail today!

Time to start fabbing a cross member with some mounts.

cant wait to see how this thing turn out! great job! keep it up!

Plan for the cross member to hold the ball for the one-links. Plan is to go one links front and rear. I'm going to attach the axles to the link via the leaf spring perches so there is a little adjustment in the suspension. I'll sleep on it tonight and start cutting/fabbing in a day or two.

Center tube 4x2x.25 rec tube, other tube 2x2x3/16, gussets .25", one link mounts 3/8" thick.

updates? lookin great!

Been doing some welding, I was on vacation last week and did some traveling this week for work, so progress has been slow.

I've been having issues with the gas on my welder too. It seems like the gas valve sometimes doesn't open so it'll be welding along good, and I'll stop start another bead and it'll be like welding with no cover gas. I've got a couple welds to grind out because they are really pitted from not enough shield gas, but most of them look pretty good.

Tires

Picked up a set of 5 Xterrian's off craigslist today. The 5 spare is new still with the tag on it. They weren't the first choice of tire on my list, but for the price, I couldn't pass them up, especially since they still have pretty good tread for a used tire. They are the 325/80R16's, so right around 12.8 wide and 36.5 tall.

I also couldn't pass up sitting them next to the explorer after I unloaded them.

awesome project! I'm following this one now.

Jealous of your garage btw. You have all that space and your truck is INSIDE the garage. Nice welder too!

Dude that's awesome great find with the wheels

Thanks guys, I've spent a lot of time looking for deals and selling unneeded stuff to keep this project going in a timely manor. Aric, I actually picked up that welder on the north side of Chicago.

I think I figured out the problem! The gas line had a hole in it where is comes out of the welder to the liner. Seems to work great now! Time to get the grinder fired up and get this thing done.

Engine is coming out tomorrow... Thanks to my father in law for letting me barrow the engine lift and stand.

Ya, Thanksgiving is the goal. I still need to find a donor truck for the engine/drivetrain (looking for an old carbed ford truck, inline 6, 289, 302, 351 max) I picked up this too, so now I need to get rid of some stuff before I can get a donor truck. Plus I have 3 engines to pull while I wait... lol

Going to get started on this again soon. Plan right now is to get the suspension, sliders, bead locks, steering, and bumpers done before the major snow starts falling. I've got coil springs, and buckets for front and rear on there way. I also ordered my bead locks from a local laser house.
