Just got my first explorer!

I just got my first explorer (1997 XLT)

I wanna start improving its off road ability, any suggestions on what i should start out with?!

I would start with tow hooks and a good tow strap.

Then a tire pressure gage and a decent air pump.

Extend the breather hoses on the front and rear differentials.

The biggest difference you can make for the money to improve its off road ability is a new set of tires. Rear locker will pay off big too.
