I've tried searching this site and the rest of the internet for the location of this d*mn thing:D, but still can't find it. It's not the one that sits near the grill and tells the temp of the outside. I know it has to do with the air intake system.

I appreciate all the help!

*If i haven't made any of the above clear enought...lol...Just say so.

If it's the ACT sensor (Air Charge Temp) it's usually screwed into the side of the airbox or somewhere on the air intake tube. Not positive on your engine...

it's in the intake piping somewhere , i have not looked at an Explorer your year , but it only has 2 wires hooked to it, so that may be a start ,

its part of the mass air flow meter there is no seperate sensor on this year.

If the MAF sensor has 6 wires, it is...

part of the MAF sensor...If there are only 4 wires the air temp sensor is seperate...But Ford made that change in the late 90's on the 2 nd gen Explorer and your 03 should have an integrated atc as well...

I guess by now you found it but I believe it's the one that sits next to the coolant temperature sensor right above the engine near the thermostat on a 98 Ford explore
