Ok. . So i got a deal last night on a set of axles and i took it

It is a hp d44 from a 90 ford econline 4x4 build by a company in Canada (don't remember the name of the company ) and a rear dana 60 + 4 wheels
All cost me $545

This build will be slow and i have no rush. . Might take 3 months and might take 3 years

Plan is simple. . Gears and lockers front and rear. .
Get it bolted together and wheel it

Just curious about why you're doing a leafspring setup on a 1st Gen when you can easily do a radius arm, 3 link or long arm setup way cheaper and easier?

I get the leafs for free and could not find radius arms under $600

I'm so confused.. the dana 60 axle kit i got don't fit.. the ubolts are not wide enough and the leaf spring perches don't sit well on the tube.. is it not a Dana 60 rear axle i have???

Shouldn't matter. the 60 has the largest tube. They sent ya the wrong part?

Dana 60 tube O.D. is 3.125" or 79.375 mm.

All D60's have "60" stamped on the housing.

If it is 3.75" O.D. or 95.25 mm then it is a Dana "super 60" with 13 mm wall thickness which would be awesome!

I find dana 70 axle swap kits on ebay for 3,5" and 4" tubes.. i need to take some messurements .. and sell the kit i got yesterday..

But if it is a dana 70...i got a stronger axle.. so i can't cry to loude

Right! for pads and u-bolts the tube diameter is all you need to know. Doesn't matter the model or year.

I got my axle perches through Barnes as well for me to do the SOA...I had to grind out the perch a bit for it to fit the axle tubes.

Weird the u-bolts don't fit though...

That is a 60-1SU. Pretty cool axle.

It should have 3.5" tubes, a smooth bottom so it will slide over rocks easier, 32 spline axles, 70 sized wheel bearings and spindles meaning it should accept 35 spline axles, and from my understanding everything else should be standard 60 size as far as pinion/carrier bearings, gear sets and pinion seal.

Here is a little reading to get you started on it. I would definitely do some homework on it because it is a bit different than a standard 60.

Thanx. . I found out on pirate today. . If my math is right (mm to inches) i have a 4" tube axle (3.70")

Maybe you know, but the axle tube is measured by the diameter, in your pic you are measuring the circumference...

Yeah, we had a cold front move in here too... It's a chilly 53 (11.6 C). I actually wore closed toe shoes and put on a sweater. It's funny here, when it goes below 65 (18 C), everybody puts on heavy jackets, scarves, gloves and boots. They wouldn't even go outside where you live.

I took pictures of a suzuki i built from 2009 to 2013 and looking back at them now Im thinking WOW, that was a lot of work, but it was so much fun!


I know you said you wouldn't be rushing things, 3 months or 3 years, but now that you are well on your way parts wise, how long you think until you start fitting the new axles underneath?
