Miles to E

Hi everyone,

My wife and I just purchased a 2013 Explorer Limited on Friday. We are long time Ford owners but this is our first Ford with the digital display.

One thing I noticed on the drive home was it showed 199 miles to empty even though we had a full tank of gas and were getting about 20 miles per gallon. The miles to empty should be about 350. Is there a re-set for this?

Also, this is our first vehicle with remote start. When I start it remotely then press the brake then push the button on the shifter to shift into reverse, the engine kills. Is this normal?

Curt that sounds like the security feature where the cops can leave OUR vehicles that we provide for them running without a key but if someone tries to clip it it shuts off.

Actually, I found this in the owners manual.

If you remote start your vehicle with an intelligent access transmitter,
you must have a programmed intelligent access key inside your vehicle
and press the START/STOP button on the instrument panel once while
applying the brake pedal before driving your vehicle.

Still can't figure out the Miles to E.

Just filled up today and now it shows 266 miles to E. I'm guessing the dealer did a factory re-set and the computer is still learning.
