....I'm sure we can get together a Main Divide Rd. run or two when I get back..

cant wait to see the pics from this trip!
Sad AWD Ex.
Can this trip be made on AWD or does it have to be 4X4? I would love to make this trip. I know that I saw a few scenic spots that at least I can visit so if I cant do this trip at least I can just go cruising to dose scenic spots.
..How do you do driving in sand, mud, and rocky roads? ..Are you stock including your running boards and what type of tires do you have?..
..I know there may be areas that may be questionable and it possibly may be dry but, I would like to think you could make it.
..I guess the real question might be, How adventurous are you?..
The real issue is going to be: Do you have low range? I'm pretty sure low range is a neccessity at least on the White Rim portion of this run, due to the low speeds and steep climbs.
Once we get outside White Rim, I'm not sure we will be using/needing low range. In those areas a decent set of tires should suffice.
Well in very adventurous but the thing is that I went off-road once and ended up with a busted front Dshaft. Now I don't know if it was that it was ready to go out or that it broke cuz it cant take THAT stress and it was light trails and not that steep of a climb. Any way stupid me I didn't notice that this trip was around the corner. I wont keep hi jacking this thread sorry didnt mean to. You guys have fun. I know you will .
Just about ready to go...
I moved the shell from one truck to the other (looks better on the other one...) Washed, waxed, rotated tires. And, loaded everything in the back.
That's one clean machine
Looking forward to the trip report.
that is a sick ranger
I hope the report doesn't include any body re-shaping...
<----:shifty_ey *whistles to himself "Memories"*
...Seven days...Do you have your cameras ready?
My truck is packed...
..I know you are leaving in less than two days to start your trek but, are you planning on bringing that new little HF floor jack?
..I'm not going to be able to see my Explorer till probably Saturday in which time I need to unload it, sort it out, and then reload it...
..We are expecting rain here starting late tonight on/off thru Saturday so I'm expecting some mud in Moab when we get there..
I am leaving on Thursday morning...
No, the HF jack is not making this trip. I haven't built a skip plate for it, nor have I figured out how to mount it in the off-road truck. Given that, I really didn't want to figure out how to mount it in this truck.
Stay turned - you can see it in Colorado over Labor Day...
..And I'm hoping gas will be down to $2 before the Colorado run because with the repairs/mods I need to desperately do to the Ranger, I'm going to be a hermit and pauper thru next year too..
...wish I was going...
Good thing you'll all be posting plenty of trip notes/pics from the road
Scott, what kind of mileage are you getting with your setup? How much are you figuring for fuel expense for the trip?
..Ritsui, You know..:shifty_ey
..I'm driving right past your house and your wife will never even know you went with us..Or.....We can call you as I am sure we will need some work related assistance..
..I can smell them wheels in your head spinning trying to make this work..
Hard to say Gerald...
My '06 gets 18 - 21 on the road with the tonneau cover. I assume with the shell it will get about the same - but I am carrying a lot more weight than I usually do.
I'm estimating 4000 miles - over 200 gallons of gas. The math is really ugly...
with ur decent gas mileage that's still 800$$ prolly 2x that for me lol pluss lotsa that time will be in 4x4 :/
ouch, was interested but u just scared the piss outa me haha
The memories made on the trip are far more important and will last much longer than the sting of high gas prices.
..I got the menu and your shopping list last night but I have some concerns..
....No where on it does it mention Jalapeno or Jalapano flavored...But don't worry, I'll bring extra of that stuff for us...:
..Wonder if I'll have time to make some of my chili?
...There is nothing like being out in the middle of nowhere with a campfire, some good ol' homemade chili, and some male bonding..
..Ok it's official...A number of guys have already taken off on their journey to the meet up point..:biggthump
..This thread will be closed in a couple days but only after the official thread gets started..
Official Moab to Monument Valley 2012 trip report
But...but....but....I still have to change my oil, pack, grocery shop and a few other things!
Just loaded all the trail files into the GPS and checked them. All looks good except my White Rim file, I am going to have to check into that.
