MyFordTouch Sync problems

I don't know where to begin, so I will list some of the more common issues that happen to me (since I have had the car...just thought it would "go away" ?!) when trying to use the Sync system. I have researched this on-line and realize many people are having the same problem(s) ! I'm just wondering if ANYONE is completely satisfied and if anyone has a vehicle with NO problems and ALL systems are operating properly...OR are most of the Sync systems "lemons" !!!

Here are some of my bizarre symptoms and believe me, I would not be taking time out of my busy schedule to complain and write this detailed email. And they HAVE happened. I wouldn't mind it so much if it was a glitch here or there, but when you read some of my weird off & on symptoms, you'll understand !

*Clock is off anywhere from 15 mins to 3 hours, 3 - 5 times/week !
*Sometimes cannot sync with phone, happened about 6 times so far and the last time was the worse, lasting 6 days !!! Then all of a sudden it worked yesterday !
*Having difficulty hanging up calls, privacy light stays on ?
*Navigation system takes sometimes forever to "boot up"., blank screen, have to drive around for 3-5 miles for it to start working again.
*Navigation previous destinations only stores last few and seems there is room to store many more ?
*For 1 full week my radio would blast out to "level 12", (12 notches) even when I was listening to my Spa satellite radio on low volume !
*The "spelling" during the navigation prompting is VERY difficult to use, sometimes up to 1/2 hour of "talking" to prompt for directions !! (You would think they would have a voice recognition time period to understand MY voice)!!
*There are NUMEROUS delays between pushing the touchscreen and getting the specific request function to work !
*The weirdest one of all !!!, and this has happened about 6 times ! When I shut the car off and open my driver door, there is a delay on the music going off and all of a sudden, my Blackberry cell phone begins playing this same sort of fast pace, upbeat ballad like the "Lord of the Dance" for about 1 minute, even when I take my cell phone into my house, it is still playing this crazy same old upbeat ballad...it's possessed !, AND I cannot turn it off, until it quits on it's own !

*There are other issues, I'm sure, I just can't remember them for now !

In addition to the Sync... Here are a few of some other issues Ford may or may not be aware of...

*The "Auto" heating seems to come on very quickly in the cold weather, thereby blowing cold air on you until the car heats up. (I end up shutting off the system so it doesn't blow cold air on me). Is there an adjustment for this to come on when the temperature gets to a Hightower temperature ?

*My panic alarm goes off very frequently while in my pants pocket, is there a setting to eliminate this or "lock it out" ? This is very annoying and I would never use this option.

*Back door hatch still occasionally opens back up, so now I just shut it manually !

*Car off, driver door open, trunk open, & when I opened the left rear door...the panic alarm went on !!, turned off panic alarm on key chain...opened right rear door next & the panic alarm went on again !!

What is this? My wife and daughters both do the same thing.

gfrjr, I looked into this and it appears that there might be some phone compatibility concerns and some other issues that the SYNC team would be able to troubleshoot with you. I recommend calling the SYNC Support team (800-392-3673 - Option 1 then 3) to discussing these issues.

robpcoif , would you mind providing me the model of your phone for so I can review this further? If you do that, I can try to look into my resources to see what can be done. Thanks!

More phone problems

My phone and my wifes have connected inconsistently since we got the Explorer. When they stop connecting they usually don't connect again and we have to delete and add the phone. When they do connect it takes minutes (should be seconds, no?). On short trips to the stop I usually have to break the law and how the phone in my hand if I forget my bluetooth earpiece. It's been in for service a few times now for these issues but no results.

Lately, new problem... which I am not sure is a SYNC problem or not. Bluetooth thinks I am connected but I am not. My phone is Blackberry torch and it's kind of annoying with leaving me the option of SPEAKER or BLUETOOTH (which connects to nothing). So I drive along the road in a 2011 shinny black Explorer holding the phone to heard the conversation because the bluetooth to the Explorer does not work, and then get out and I can't get it off speaker phone at all to use the handset cause the phone thinks Bluetooth is working. So I end up walking through stores with the phone on speaker phone - very annoying for those around me. If I hang up and call them back, it still thinks I am connected.... I noticed distance is not the issue.. I am sometimes 1 mile away. I solve this by deleting the phone off the vechicle - adding it back, removing the battery from the phone and waiting for reboot and then I am ok maybe for between 0 or 3 connections but I find I am connecting and trying to get the Explorer handsfree to work more than actually using it.

I escalated to Ford about this and other tech problems and am sure hoping they are taking these things serious.

I'm not sure what the song is, but after doing some investigation, it seems to be a problem with the phone. Some of the posts I read indicate that it involves the bluetooth connection and can even occur when using bluetooth headsets. The phone can't figure out what happened, and will keep playing music by picking a random song in the phone. It was described as some sort of improper implementation of the bluetooth standard on the phone.

Might this be happening with you all?

This happens to my Blackberry 9700 about 30% of the time. I beleive that about greather than 1/2 of the issues people have with the Explorer and phones are phone issues. Ford is pushing BT technology on phones much harder (way beyond a simple BT headset), and I think we are seeing poorly designed BT interfaces fail.

This describes an issue I have exactly. MFT 2.8 with a VZW BB Curve 8530. BB begins to play whatever song is on the device when I exit the Ex sometimes, even though I use an iPod connected via USB. I have removed all my own mp3's from the BB, however there is one song left that comes with the device that gets played now. If I can figure out how to remove this song installed by VZW or RIM, maybe I can resolve the issue, by treating the symptoms...

Have a '11 XLT 205A w/trlr tow, and SYNC has been hit and miss. Auto connection for my BB 9830 is a sometime affair, having to turn bt off & on to get it to connect. A nuisance and a task I should not have to perform, to be sure, but by far my biggest problem has been the overwhelmingly negative feedback from those I call on the hands free phone as to the horrendous backround noise that accompanies each call. I was surprised that no other posts I read dealt with this problem, but maybe no one has been able to connect enough to make that many calls?! I am told that you can hear cars next to me, the rev of my engine including gear shifts, and a general "wind tunnel" experience. SYNC is all for nought if the mic doesn't work well enough for those that are called to endure the call. I am an outside salesman that drives about 1k/week, and I need a hands-free system that is going to support the calls I make while driving!

Actually, I have a nice list of problems here, and that one is mentioned. If you click the item (Item Q on the list), it is linked to the topic covering the issue that I'm hoping is fixed for 2012:

I used to have a BB9830, had not so good connectivity in my company car, also in my F150, it would hit and miss sometimes. This maybe a RIM issue, I don't know, it might be worth a call to them or visit tech online. I changed last month to droid HTC Evo, and no issues, we'll wait to see 2012my.
