Need new key.. Help

I just got a new ford explorer 97" drove to the store n of course lost the key. Does anyone know how much anew one may cost? And do I go to any Ford dealer to get it even though its so old?...

Welcome to the forum. A new ignition cylinder would be cheaper than a locksmith but the old cylinder won't come out easy without the key. I don't think ford has kept record of the key codes that far back in time from what I have read.

Wherever you go, dealer, locksmith, repair shop, you'll need the vehicle there. Best bet is a seasoned locksmith, they come to it and cut a key on the spot. Have you tried contacting previous owner to see if they happen to have a spare or if there's a hidden key? Might feel around for hidden key too
