The front wheel bearings in the Aerostar last a long time just as long as they are periodically lubricated with fresh grease at each brake job. They wear out eventually, and have to be replaced just like any other part in the van. The job is easy to do, and doesn't take that much time. Here are the removal steps to take after the caliper is removed:

Step one, remove the cotter pin..JPG

Step two, remove castle nut..JPG

Step three, remove the large nut..JPG

Step four, remove the grease seal with a claw hammer..JPG

Now it's time to replace everything. The large rear bearing is dipped in grease, then is installed into the back of the rotor. The grease seal is hammered into place with an iron 1-1/2" plumbing cap which is available at any plumbing supply or hardware store. A 2" rubber Jim cap is placed over the iron cap to protect it from hammer marks, and provide a non slip grip. This plumbing part combo is an exact fit for the seal. The rotor is replaced, then the small bearing is dipped in grease, and installed in the front of the rotor. Reinstall the washer, nut, castle nut, and use a new cotter pin. The caliper goes back into place. Refill the master cylinder reservoir.
