Al :, just placed the order for the Dakota gauge !,
I ordered the sender as well,I'm sure this is a standardised size for the threads on that center cap of the filter bracket ?,3 wires should be a simple install.

Bill, where are you gonna mount the gauge? Be sure to post pics, since i am sure yours will be in before mine.

just ordered it.....

about 5 minutes ago !!
did you also get the sender.....should fit {I hope}

If you don't mind, how much is the sender? Possibly the total on the entire setup.

The white one from Summit pictured above is $46.95 with a sender.

2 5/8" Diam..
1/8" NPT sender w/ 1/2" adapter..
ATM-4457

It would be cool if it looked like an indiglo gauge. I am not sure what it looks like at night..

$10.25

0-400 degrees F, 0-200 degrees C 1/8-inch NPT Transmission/Oil Temperature Sender for use with ODY-07 or ODY-08 Temperature Gauges

gauge pod ?

just noticed that Dakota Digital also sells pods,{mounting consoles} for the gauges,they have one for the '95-'99 year Explorer !,they make them as a single,or a double gauge setup......that would mount to the drivers side pillar !

the single was like $22. and the dual was $28.
I will probably get the pod for mounting my gauge.
it comes in black,but can be painted,{I have the grey interior}

ordered the pod !,

however..it is on a slight backorder,they said they will ship everything at the same time to save me on shipping,I agreed since I'll need it all at once anyway,
also just ordered some interior paint{sure hope it matches}from www.paintscratch.com
I was goint to add another gauge and do the double pod......but enough is enough.

so many things planned..........and I don't know where to begin !

Do you have a part number, I didn't see it on their website.

Thanks....

part # PP1-95F-EXP from Dakota Digital,for the single

part # 15309 from auto meters site for the single
Dead Link Removed

this is a link to Auto meter's site to get an idea what to expect.,although this is not an X,and it is a multi gauge setup,you can see what it looks like ....sort-of

also they only come in black and must be painted to match interior.

I like these pods !

and they fit our size of gauge !! same price on either site and are made by the same people.

medium graphite. (code M4245J) '99 interior
whats on the paintscratch.com site looks to be a tad dark,even though I was told that it probably is correct.

Has anyone recieved the Gauges yet? I am dieing to see the pics...

Later

it's going to be a little bit longer than I thought.......
my gauge order is held up due to the pod {gauge console} on back-order.

the gauge is in place !

and looks pretty good to boot.
one problem though,I'm getting a low reading,it's working though,it never went higher than 81,and stayed most of the time in the low to mid 70's.

I called up Dakota digital,and I was told to make sure that it's setup at 40F {400 F},this sender has different settings,and each time the send wire is grounded,the range will change.

I'll double check in the morning,{have a few days off this week}

and I'll be sure to take some pics as well !!!
I think it looks nice.

Where did you mount it? Did you get one of those form fit jobbies?

Can't wait to see the pics..

What filter is everyone using?

I have a FL1A on mine since I use the same on the engine, what is everyone using?

Thanks

I just sent aldive my pics to post.....

just can't figure out how to do it ?,
if the pictures were at a web address,I believe I could do it.

I guess not being an elite member,I just can't post pics ?
just tried from some web address that I knew would work,and it didn't.

hopefully.....Al will post them soon !!

Steve :, I'm using a smaller filter {Amsoil SDF-57}
due to the fact I was getting tire rub on the full size one.
I just sent them an order for 4 of them

I use a Mobil1 shorty for the time being. Shorty as I was getting tire rub and that worried me. I will re-mount it and then use a Mobil1 standard size.

Sorry I forget the part #'s
