I've got a 84' b2 , 2.8 I keep burning up my coil, I can,t explain it were should I start looking for a short. Everything almost is new just recently installed new carb.,brake booster, shocks, starter and several other parts any ideas. Any and all help is appreciated.

Check the wiring harness leading to the coil

If you are going through coils to keep it running I would check timing, wiring, correct plug application, etc.

I cant be of much help as the 2.8L is a bit before my time and I am not real familiar with the ignition. I think its called Duraspark II or something like this???

Short

If the timing is off will that me to burn up the coil.

UI'm not sure but it doesnt help

I would start asking older Ford guys, like th ekind of Mustang guys or whomever that are used to working with carbs and older distributor engines what are common causes of pre mature coil failure

How does it run?
You may also ask this on boards that deal more with the older 2.8L V6 more often, like BroncoII.org or therangerstation.com, etc
