I have a 98 XLT V8, full time all wheel, I have a sort of clicking noise, right front axle, I canot make go away.

it has been there for about 15,000 miles
The truck has 206,000 miles. It has new tires which have recently been rebalanced, all four new rotors& brakes, the tires were rotated and the noise did not move The front struts have about 8,000 miles on them, and the noise was there before.

I suspect the right front halfshaft- (the CV boots are still in perfect condition, btw, and have never been completely immersed in water)or the front wheel bearing on that side. I have no issues with replacing either or both, but I'd like to know if there was some diagnostic to determine which one was the issue.

thanks in advance for your patience and help.

check cv joints

Welcome to the site!

A clicking noise like that is more likely your half shaft. The bearings are usually a high pitch noise. Clicking noise is usually 95% of the time a cv joint. Good luck
