Does anyone have any experience with adding a subwoofer in a 3rd gen in the place where the original one went. Whether its an oem part or squeezing any old sub id just like to make use of the spot for it as i dont really have room for a sub in my cargo area and feel i could do a neat wire tuck. Truck currently does not have a sub or im pretty sure anyways but on the passenger side of the cargo area theres a spot for one

I would reccomend going to a junk yard and getting a factory sub box from an Explorer. You can get aftermarket subs to fit the enclosure if the sub is no good. Also suggest you repost and / or search the audio forum.

Make sure you get a subwoofer specifically designed for a small enclosure.

if you go to a junk yard i believe there is an amp for the sub.i had to replace the key fob receiver, which is on the back of the passenger side post right below the fob receiver,There was a silver amp that was wired to the sub,You may want to see if the one you get is the same.
