You want to connect the rope/chain to somewhere on the frame, NOT the suspension. You may need to be innovative as far as how to attach it. When you get it back home, I'd suggest mounting some tow hooks.
If you are going very far, you need to put the t case in neutral if you have that option, or disconnect the driveshafts. If you are only going a short distance, just put the tranny in neutral.
