Trans swap into 99 Explorer from Ranger

Ok this might be a dumb question but hey why not? Got a 99 2wd Explorer 4.0 with a messed up 5R55E in it. I also have a 99 Ranger 2wd 3.0 with a 4R44E if I'm correct? Is there a way I can swap the good trans from the ranger into the explorer? If its just drop on the 4.0 bellhousing then I can do that. Yes I know the 5r55e is superior but the one in the ranger is free. Give me your thoughts? Thanks!!!

The 4r44e would not be a good choice for this swap.

A: PCM's are different.
B: Bellhousing patterns are different
C: Even if you could get it to work the 4r44e would not last long behind the 4.0, especially if it is a SOHC

Thanks! No easy/cheap route here...I'll just take it to a shop and get the 5r rebuilt.
