The question pretty much says it all (get your mind out of the gutter). :D I have always wondered what those bumps are for on headlight lenses. There are usually 3 of them. They are like 3 little nipples. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I always though that they kept the lens from getting scractch up when they are off the truck and setting on their face. You know to hold the lens off the surface.

      .
      sounds kinda kinky, LOL

they may be used for factory headlight alignment, but

they are probably also used as mold ejection points

They are for aiming. Any shop that does headlight aiming the correct way has a tool that attatches to those three posts, one on each headlight, then you look through a little window and adjust them until they line up...kinda hard to explain but that is what they are there for :)

They are also responsible for many finger sprains. You know how your washing your headlights, forget they are there, and smack one of your fingers?? Maybe its just me. :D

Thanks a lot for the replies. I know what you mean about them tearing up the sponge. That is probably their main purpose.

For some reason this reminds me of the spoof called "Mercury Mistress" It's on youtube, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for this site.
