What's the difference between transfer cases with GA, CA, and RA?

      I,m trying to replace my transfer case on my 1997 explorer XLT,and I need to know whats the difference between the different case numbers. Mine is the F77A-GA. Can I use the F76A-RA or the F57A-CA????

      You can use the CA on the 97 but you have to get the front drive shaft that goes with it.

      98+RA does not have the VSS in it like the 95-96 CA or the 97 GA does.

      GA uses the same front drive shaft as the RA.

      The CA front shaft was only used for 95-96 years and used the same "Style" double Cardan shaft as the 91-94 used. So make sure you have the right front shaft from a 95-96 that the CA uses. ;)
