Gave him the identical instructions in post #16.
Maybe the horn was removed and doesn't exist.
My vehicle is a 1999 Ford Explorer SPORT

There is nothing under my hood like what is in the diagram that you sent.

Thanks for trying.

I still cannot find the horn.

Hi swshawaii;

You did, I missed that.
I can't imagine why anybody would remove the horn but who knows?

I do wonder if he followed instructions?

ROFL. I'm done with this, wish him the best.

Found/fixed the horn!

I found the horn in the driver's side fender.

Had to remove battery and battery box to get to the bolt, which was corroded beyond belief! Had to drill it out.

The horns were corroded also but upon checking with a my vehicle grounded battery....they worked.

Spent an hour cleaning terminals and installing new jumper wire connector.

Buttoned it all back up and .........SHE BLOWS!

Thanks to all that helped me with this frustrating problem!:chug:

The instruction manual directions were so vague as to be almost useless.

....raise hood, remove horn bracket bolt.......

To do just that, you would have to go through a steel bulkhead, providing you had X-ray vision to see the bolt in the first place!

No mention in the service tech manual about removing the battery and battery box!

Anyway, Thanks again to all for the great help with this problem!!!:dpchug:

Hi chuckwagon101;

The link I posted to my Dropbox folder shows the instructions for a 99 Explorer Sport. I own a 99 Explorer Sport. I do agree the instructions in the manuals can be less than helpful sometimes.

The horn bracket bolt referred to should be just in front of the battery and way down in the dark.

I'd suggest following the instructions in the pdf to unbolt and move out of the way the fender liner and see if the horn is actually there.

The 95 to 2001 Explorers are all second generation Explorers and a lot of the subsystems are the same. I'd expect that would include the horn location.

The service manual for horn removal was for a 2001 Mountaineer.

The link that was posted to my old post was a 2001 Explorer/Mountaineer. Those are going to be exactly the same as a 99....
