gave myself an oil change. mobil 1 synthetic, k&n filter

11.22.2010-11.23.2010
ive always had a bogging/no get up and go on a cold start. so i went ahead and tried this: http://ford40.com/sputtering.shtml

left it to soak all night, dried today. there was some dirt/dust on the filaments. put it back in today along with a new maf from a cobra.
not only was there no more bogging when cold, i didnt have the slow response/bog related to having my battery unplugged and it relearning itself either.

i reccomend doing this if you have probs and notice the maf filaments are dirty.

the new maf sensor:

and the painted area behine the grille:

i will be painting the grille, bull bar, front bumper, rear bumper all with bedliner.
and at some point paint along the sides of the truck following the top of the bumper line in bed liner

11.24.2010-11.28.2010
bed lined front bumper, rear bumper+rear sides, grill, and re-added wal-mart lights.
took off the hitch that was attached the the bumper also.

invert the picture and thats how my passenger side looks? :p

pitman, tie rods, bleed brakes, set down on all fours. i was busy tonight, but ill see if i can go out and yank the pitman off

edit: i do have one thing ive done/getting done that will be a surprise that will be revealed on our trip

i got it off.cheap autozone puller and a 2ft breaker with a socket :)

i got some ajustable camber bushings also. need to put those in now too.

let tim do those

its going to be bad but just put you ****test tires on and drive slow.they are a pita to put in, i would do them very last if you have time

he said 5mph slow lol
thats 7.3 miles on military and the blvd. that wont work

naww it wont be that bad,not with 4" you can turn the ones in there to max out and it prob will be close.remember you have drop brackets so the camber should be close and unless you mounted the brackets wrong it shouldnt be to far off,it may pull a little but not no 5 mph slow

i drove mine to norfolk after i put my 5.5,on the highway

im not aware theres a wrong way to install my brackets lol
i have the 5"/6" coils also is why im thinking itll be way off.

i wont know until it sits on its own weight

Build yourself a camber plate.. otherwise the suspension will be loaded when you put it back on teh ground.. and bouncing it won't settle it.

I just use some sheet metal pieces (18x18) and put some bearing grease between them.. put one pair under each front tire and viola, the suspension will settle.

i figured id drive around the block. its free and i can annoy my neighbors with no exhaust lol
your way involves buying things :(

Buying things? YOu don't have any extra steel or aluminum lying around. Heck, wood might even work (never tried that).

~Mark

almost. i set it down on 3 wheels tonight. ill post pics of the height at work tomorrow. and finish up to drive it after i get home

as far as the pitman arm. my old one left a clean spot on the steering shaft. the new one will not go high enough to cover the clean spot. all i have to fit the nut is a 12" crescent and i just cant turn it anymore. i have no sockets that fit, ive tried a bunch of large ones and none fit.
is that the only thing keeping the arm from going all the way up? or do i need to do anything else before tightening the nut?

The new one might not fit as far up on it.looks good does have a slight slant.so what's left to do?

Yea I'm pretty sure these springs are 4" also.

Um... bleed brakes and put the passenger tire on.
Is it safeto drive with the radiusarm crossmember notbolted together in the middle? It would be ashort trip to tim to let him do it. It doesn't move at all, its solid and snug togeher.

I hope the pitman is on all the way tho
