On my explorer at the moment I have dual 50 series flowmaster mufflers. Its the dual in dual out 50 series SUV muffler. Its not quite as deep or loud as I wanted my truck to be. I was thinking about switching over to the Super 40 series mufflers. The only muffler they make that has any kind of dual pipes is single 3" in, dual 2.5" out. My question is, can I get a single in single out muffler and have Y pipes on both ends? My thought is that would create some backpressure and actually help my SOHC engine more than the free flow I have now. How much deeper is a super 40 on a 6 cyl engine?
