    15W40 Engine Oil for a 04 Explorer..

im not here to call you a liar, but the fact remains that engines are built with MUCH tighter tolerances than they once were.. that being said, a heavier oil is harder to get between moving parts and WILL cause problems.

    15W40 Engine Oil for a 04 Explorer..

Its hard for us in the AF to get anything other than 15W40, and we have had replace a few engines as a result.. I tried telling the old hats that you HAVE to run the specified oil or it causes timing chain tensioner failure, sludge, and ultimately engine failure and I get the ole "Well, they...

A/C switches from vent to defrost when going up a hill

believe it or not, the vacuum is higher at idle than full throttle because when the throttle plate is closed it introduces a restriction which increases vacuum

    Noise, maybe fuel pump

probably not the pump as they run constant while the engine is running, sounds more like differential noise.. this was a problem that there was a tech service bulletin on for earlier 3rd gen X's

A/C switches from vent to defrost when going up a hill

sounds like you either have a loose/leaking vacuum hose or a directional door with a pinhole in the diapgragm. Oh yeah, 3rd gen X's are drive by wire so you can scrap the throttle linkage idea

2005 Mountaineer A/C Coming from Floor Vents

I had the dashboard out of my 05 explorer to repair a fresh air/recirc door problem. While it was apart, I moved all of the directional doors manually, then re-assembled and tested all settings.. Mine blows out of the floor vents constantly as well, Im beginning to think that its supposed to...

Easy (and functional)low airvent flow fix

Well i just got done re assembling the truck today and it works really well. Something i did notice was that all of the directional/blend doors have the same setup, so if you get cold air when you have the temp select set to hot (or vice versa), it could be one of these damn things... hopefully...

Easy (and functional)low airvent flow fix

Damn I knew I should have taken pics.. I used Loctite Weld to stick the arm to the flapper, but i prepped both of them before.. I cut slits in the end of the arm and sprayed electronic parts cleaner into the end of the flapper door.

Turned front rotors and new pads, now shakes!

If they were already warped, I dont recommend getting them turned as you will have thicker and thinner spots and it will warp again very easily.. The only reason rotors should be turned is if there are shallow grooves in them and you are replacing the pads as well. Your pads should be fine as...
