speedo and odometer stopped working after replacing hub.

No I did not reset the trip meter. The only thing that i did was replace a vacuum hub. speedo/odometer/trip meter were working fine but were not working at all after hub replacement.

speedo and odometer stopped working after replacing hub.

1998 ranger 4x4, 4wheel ABS. I replaced the passenger side hub. When I drove away the speedo and odometer were not working. They were working prior to the hub replacement. I can't see the problem except as a strange coincidence. Anybody good with possible coincidences?

CEL came on, code P1401 I sure could need help,

I have searched for this code in several places. The answers range checking O2 sensor, to replace gas cap. Seems to me that this might to be what P1401 mean DPFE Sensor Circuit High Voltage Detected. I checked the voltage to the egr solenoid, it is good. I tested the egr valve, it working and...

1998 ranger 3.0 got P0401 code and trying to check EGR system

Dealing with a P0401 code, EGR flow insufficient. I applied vacuum to the EGR Valve and the engine stuttered so assumed that it was OK. I wanted to check the gas flow prior to messing with the DPFE. I saw somewhere that the electric vacuum regulator diaphragm could be depressed manually. The...

Need pulse vacuum hub lock 1998-2000 Ranger

I have a new hub/bearing assembly but I need the vacuum hub lock only. The last mechanic that replaced the front brake pads broke off all except 2 of the plastic legs. I had to drive the truck home so I put the damaged hub lock on. On the way it fell off...so much noise it seemed the truck...

Transfer case sending power to the front wheels when not needed.

Could the whine be caused by wheel bearings?

Transfer case sending power to the front wheels when not needed.

Interesting that the shaft moved freely. The shaft on my T case did not rotate easily. I had to use a bit of pressure to rotate using a socket and ratchet. But, It is a mystery to me why I did not buy a truck with manual range selector and without pulse vacuum hubs. Good luck with finding a...

Transfer case sending power to the front wheels when not needed.

I don't know if this would apply to your problem. My 98 4WD was stuck in 4WD LOW. I was on pavement and could not move. I tried for days to get out of low without success. As emergency fix I removed the transfer case motor. There is a small shaft that rotates to select 2WD, 4WD HI, and 4WD...

1998 ranger 4wd, 3 ltr. loud clunk while moving followed by loud vibration.

No I haven't yet been into it. I have to work on it outside and the rain is deterring me. The weird thing about the noise/vibration is that it is identical to the effect of running on the rumble strip. A sympathetic vibration at a distance is to strange to think about.

1998 ranger 4wd, 3 ltr. loud clunk while moving followed by loud vibration.

My 1998 Ranger 3.0, 4WD, front and back ABS, manual trans. I posted a question in 2014 regarding left front vibration. Member replies suggested a bad wheel bearing. That was the problem and because of ABS hub I had to replace the complete hub. Now I have a similar sound and vibration on the...

    Whine in front end.

wheel bearings Thanks Ranger Guys, I am going to do it today. I can look up the part number on NAPA's web site. This truck has been through hell and back. Baja, evil gold mining roads in Oregon...And it keeps on trucking with only minor problems. I hear that ford is no longer to...

    Whine in front end.

My truck. 1998 ranger 4x4. 140,000 mi. Manual trans. A high pitch whining has developed in the front end. The whine is the same regardless of which gear the truck is in. When shifting into neutral and drifting the sound does not change. The whine starts out as a rumble and increases in...

    Stuck in 4WD LO

I need help, can't hang around waiting for the earth to end. I'm new in this town and I don't trust mechanic shops. I know enough to recognize BS when I see it. Mine is a 1998 ranger extended cab. 4WD 3.0 L about 120,500 miles(odometer gave up a while back) Here's the problem. A...
