    P1762

    While driving on the highway yesterday my check engine light came on. I pulled the code and got P1762. I looked up the code and it is an overdrive issue. The funny thing is the trans shifts fine with no slippage, the fluid isn't burnt and it goes into overdrive. Any clues?

    just recently I changed all the timing components on my 98 explorer (4.0 sohc).everything seems to be working fine except I have a check engine light on. I pulled the codes and they are p0171, p0174 and p1506. When the engine is cold the idle is rough. I am pretty sure all the vacuum lines are...

    Timing chain...so far

    Okay, I pulled the engine out this evening and found that both the primary tensioner and the balance shaft tensioner are blown out...big ol' chunks of plastic in the oil pan. Both casettes are in good shape though..yes I am changing them. So far to pull the engine and tear it down to the point...

    Timing chain hints

    Okay folks...I am going to replace the timing chains on my 98 explorer this weekend. I got all the goodies I need(gaskets, seals, cloyes set), and I have looked at some of the threads about changing them. Does anybody else have anything to add? Any good hints or tricks?

    timing chain...what would you do?

    I just bought a '98 explorer with a 4.0l SOHC engine with 169,000 miles on it and it has a pretty good timing chain rattle when warmed up. Should I just pull the front of the engine and replace the guides and all the tensioners, or should I pull the whole engine and replace all the guides...

    4.0l timing chains

    HI, My 98 explorer needs to get the timing chains replaced. I have no problem doing them myself. My question is how are the kits that are on ebay. The price is great but is the quality garbage?
