Well, after a month, and a couple of shots of Lucas it has certainly cut down on leakage, I think its gonna stop.

Do I have a stretched timing chain?

95 3 L running hot, crazy codes, TPS,PIP,SPOUT, have changed out PIP (whole dist) TPS, Both computers, cap / rotor, wires, plugs. Seems like I had this happen once before. There was an inch+ slack on both sides of the timing chain, but not quite enough to actually jump a tooth. It whacks out...

I'm leaking P/S fluid from the top of my steering gear just below the bottom knuckle.

Thanx BB, after weighing all options I proceeded with that very plan yesterday. We'll see how it goes. If nothing else, worst case scenario is I get to wait a week or two on doing a "real" repair.

1995 Aerostar. Upper control arm replacement.

Updated tip on those front 17mm bolts...Mine snapped right off, all too easily, with it breaking off flush, the bolt threads still in the nut inside the frame rail. MY SOLUTION...I first ( it didnt take much) broke out the original nut from above with a punch and finishing hammer, then tacked a...

Post your WTB Aerostar parts here.

I need a rear seat that folds BACKWARDS to lie flat... I have 1 from an older one in the rear position, thinking if I add another in the middle position they, together, would make an almost decent bed. I have a couple of single seats, a couple of the smaller bench seats that fold forward, but...

I'm leaking P/S fluid from the top of my steering gear just below the bottom knuckle.

on my '95 XL, should I, 1) rebuild ? kit at the ZONE is like $45 (and save the rest of the kit for future) 2) just replace that top seal ( if available by itself ) * my favorite choice 3) pull a used rack from salvage yard $50 4) buy a rebuilt after market rack for $110 at the Zone ...

1995 Aerostar. Upper control arm replacement.

As you can see mine are just as bad as the previous pix. It may be notable the the the 17 mm forward most bolt does not go all the way through the frame, but through a second plate on top of the frame, other than keeping the bracket square, it doesnt really hold it in. The nut is actually inside...

1995 Aerostar. Upper control arm replacement.

Im replacing the control arm bushings and just snapped the front (17mm) bolt, just like in the pic above. Ive been juicing it up w/ PBBlaster, heated it up w/ propane torch, those 21mm do NOT want to come out. Tomorrow I will switch over to map gas maybe the heat will work then, Im scared Ill...

Solved My 1995 3.0L Aerostar died while driving.

    Transmission exchange between a 1993 & 1994 Aerostar.

Ok, can anybody tell me where on the engine to look for the VIN? Or if it is visible while in the van ? I actually have a fiberoptic scope where I might be able to see it even if not by the naked eye...

    Transmission exchange between a 1993 & 1994 Aerostar.

I have a 93 4l and a 94 3l, any reason why I cant, or special changes required to put the 94 3l auto trans into the 93 4l ? Ive been told I'll have to change the housing...???? Also I have determined that the engine and transmission in my 93 4l are NOT original ( as per pics in Haynes book) as...

1994 Aerostar with a 3.0L. Code 212. Grounded spout circuit.

I used the following reference as my guide to troubleshooting the ignition sys. I found it easy to follow.... http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/ford_ignition_coil_3.0L_3.8L/test_ignition_coil_1.php

1994 Aerostar with a 3.0L. Code 212. Grounded spout circuit.

Only in as far as I got flashing on the test light, but no, not w/ multimeter. I really dont know how w/ multi meter to look for a "square" profile... I might add that I went through this a couple of months ago, replaced coil and whole distributer w/ used ones from junkyard, and it worked...

How many people own or have owned an Aerostar?

BB I have a 93 4L XLT, and a 94 3L XL I use as work trucks. Both over 150k mi, all things considered, I find them to perform well, and to be economical especially given the (over) loads I carry with them. The dual zone a/c is certainly appreciated on these hot Atlanta summer days too. Now and...

1994 Aerostar with a 3.0L. Code 212. Grounded spout circuit.

I have tested out all components ( 2-3 times ) and all test out ok. My question is, before I start splitting wire bundles open, looking for the site of the ground, can the PIP sensor be bad and still make the signal ? Or is there anything you guys know about this that I cant find anywhere else ...

    That damn Haynes book.

Does it control a "no start" function or simply kick on an idiot light ? Like I said it does not control pressure gauge, it still works fine. BB you ARE the greatest !

    That damn Haynes book.

Latest update and problem...tranny back in, functional although I may need to do some more adjusting to kick down. Newest dilemma is that upon replacing the starter after putting i the tranny I broke a sensor that goes into the crankcase, right in front of the starter. Cast aluminum crankcase...

    That damn Haynes book.

I hadnt thought about that but, Ill at least put some permatex on those nuts maybe I can strike them w/ cold chisel first too. I'm going to have to replace at the very least, one, so I'll pick up a handful at Home Depot. I guess that is why those studs are slightly tapered, to accommodate the...
