How do you disconnect the ABS

I have recently had a problem with the ABS activating right before the truck stops completely. I really have no use for the ABS, so if I can just disconnect it that would be easier. Someone here has to know how, and if I do disconnect it will it cause any other problems?

    1993 sport alternator problem?

Problem fixed I finally found out what the problem was. It's the a/c compressor. It must have been putting too much strain on the serpentine belt, and the car wouldn't continue running. I unplugged the wiring harness to it, and now I don't have starting problems at all now. But the...

'93 Sport - Won't Shift in 4-wheel. Lots of Snow!

I have a '93 sport also, and the same exact thing happened to me last winter. The dash light would not go on and 4wd would not engage. I took it in to have it looked at and they ended up charging a few hundred to fix it. I don't recall exactly what they did, but it had something to do with...

    1993 sport alternator problem?

Thanks for the post opera house. I will check these things today. Alternator tested out fine when I took it in, so at least I know for certain it isn't that.

    1993 sport alternator problem?

No, actually they're on so tight it's difficult to remove them. I checked the voltage on the battery and got 13.1, plenty to start the truck.

    1993 sport alternator problem?

I took the alternator out today, so I may as well have it tested since it's already out. I guess it could be a number of electrical issues.

    1993 sport alternator problem?

I was putting the Explorer in the garage about an hour ago, and it started up fine, but died five seconds later. So I started it again, put it into drive, and drove it forward a few feet and it died before I could even get it into park. It also made a bit of a groan when it killed. It starts...

Major Road Trip - What preparations?

If I were going on that long of a trip I would bring jumper cables, or maybe one of those cool instant battery jumpers. Get a small socket set that you can keep in the back by the jack. They sell those roadside emergency kits which are pretty useful also.

    coolant fouled plugs

Earlier this week I was going a short trip just over 100 miles away. I was towing a trailer with two quads on it with the 93 sport. On the interstate about halfway into the drive, the X started to lose a lot of power, and I couldn't rev faster than 3K rpms or go much more than 55 mph. So I...

How many miles will an average 4.0 last?

My 93 has 144,000, and the ticking noise has become more noticable in the past year. Other than that it runs fairly well. Still have the original tranny as far as I know.

    wheel bearing problems

I torqued the locking nut to 35 ft lbs. then loosened half a turn then tightened back to 20 ft lbs. There doesn't seem to be any noticable play in the wheel when I spin it. It feels fine until I hit about 20 or 25 mph than I notice the noise. I'm going to take it apart again and re-check...

    wheel bearing problems

I just finished replacing the driver side front wheel bearings, and wheel bearing races on a 93 with auto locking hubs. The noise from the inner bearing was getting unbearable, and it dug into the inner bearing race. Now that I have the new ones on, I am hearing a rubbing noise coming from...
