The cd changer error is most likely not fixable, the test is to put a cd in and listen, if it spins up it might just need cleaning, if it doesn't spin it has to be replaced. At least that is my understanding from researching the same issue in the '05.

Yes welding wire is high strand count. It's also my go-to for my car audio systems. After all it handles a couple hundred amps at 19-24VDC from my welder all day, so why not? Edit: I also find its substantially cheaper than buying name brand wire with a colored jacket.

IIRC, the 9007 kits are actually wired for 9004's there's a wire you need to switch somewhere. I will see if I can find more info.

05 XLT, 126K on untouched transmission. Changing the fluid and filter as soon as I have the down time.
